The Guardian reports that Apple has started looking for carrier partners in the UK. Apple is understood to have approached several UK mobile phone networks, including Orange, about selling its forthcoming tablet computer to British customers. As we reported earlier, this late move may mean that Apple waits a few months before it sends the tablet overseas. The Guardian says: British gadget fans will have to wait until much later in the spring, according to UK sources, but the price of the device could be reduced if Apple can persuade a mobile phone company to subsidise it....

Essential brought their first smartphone back in 2017 and since then, users have been waiting for their second-generation phone. Moreover, there have been rumors that Essential will unveil their second phone soon, but that seems unlikely. However, the Essential Phone update cycle is among the best and it has been receiving the Android updates alongside Google Pixel devices. Russian blog iGuides.ru points us to a new hack for Apple TV users that brings Russian subscription TV & movie service Unlimovie.tv to the device with no jailbreak required. The service, which is currently in beta, requires users to manually change the DNS on their device (easily accessible from within Settings) in order to access its digital TV service directly through Apple’s own Trailers app. It isn’t the first hack of its kind: Just a couple weeks back, one of our favorite media servers, Plex, arrived on Apple TV without a jailbreak through what appeared to be a similar hack of the stock Trailers app....

As the report from Bloomberg explains, Grinder was removed from the App Store sometime last week. It’s also unavailable on Android app markets in the country. These Android app stores are run by companies such as Tencent and Huawei in China, as Google’s own Play Store is unavailable in the country. These plasma-confining devices, called tokamaks, are formed using a series of high-power magnetic coils to create a vessel in which plasma is controlled at temperatures as hot as the sun’s core. Correctly confined plasma can allow nuclear fusion to occur between hydrogen atoms and is being studied as a sustainable method of generating electricity. Researchers from DeepMind and EPFL’s Swiss Plasma Center (SPC) detail in a new paper in Nature how they helped create a set of DeepMind AI algorithms capable of controlling the shape of plasma inside the vessel....

Google has released Hangouts version 9 for iPhone and iPad, bringing a native iOS share extension and new Low Power Mode functionality to the social app. Starting with the latest update, users can share content over Hangouts on iOS without being in the app. Just activate the newly added Hangouts extension by tapping the share/action button (box with arrow) on an app like Safari or Photos, then tap ‘More’ at the end of the row of colored app icons, toggle Hangouts on and position it wherever you prefer....

An update to the GoPro app that allows users to remotely control their GoPro cameras has been a long time coming. Just in time for iOS 8, today the app finally gets an overhaul for iOS 7 with a completely redesigned UI that ditches that super outdated design the app has been sporting for quite a while now. The navigation of the app remains similar to the previous version, but the entire app has been updated with an iOS 7 style design with flat icons, a more vibrant color scheme, and an overall streamlined design....

Daybreak Games announced this morning that H1Z1 will finally release on PS4, with an open beta coming on May 22, but they currently have no plans to include a first-person mode in the console release. In a market already saturated with battle royale games like PUBG and Fortnite, H1Z1 started off as something that could’ve been totally different. However, some two years after developers announced plans to bring the game to consoles, the PS4 revamp won’t include the draw of first-person gameplay, which could be vital to their success in the console space....
