When the news first broke that Marvel was rebooting the Guardians of the Galaxy, it seemed a useful twist of fate, since the fate of the Guardians movies (and their director) seemed uncertain....

Let’s face it: The Guardians of the Galaxy are terrible role models. Okay, maybe that’s a little harsh, but part of the appeal of the first film (and hopefully the upcoming sequel) is that the Guardians are all relatable. Despite being aliens and raccoons and talking trees, they’re each flawed individuals with painful pasts and fairly simple dreams for the future. Part of that is what makes the franchise’s focus on family so important, but it also grounds the more fantastical elements of the space-faring action-comedy....

Hulu releases a trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale season 3. Google’s Project Fi service will now work on tablets including iPads and other compatible data-only devices besides phones. There are no extra fees to add devices to a Fi plan and data only costs $10 for every 1GB you use. That varies from many mainstream carrier plans with charge monthly rates for data access. In the next couple of days, current users of Google’s MVNO will see an option to order a free data-only nano SIM from the ‘Your Plan’ section of the Project Fi website....

WarnerMedia continues to add more original content to their upcoming streaming service, granting a direct-to-series order to Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, an animated prequel to the 1984 classic horror-comedy film. The show is a joint production of Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation. The original Gremlins film was a massive box office success, bringing in over $150 million on an $11 million budget. It spawned one sequel, 1990’s Gremlins 2: The New Batch, which earned only $41 million against a budget of $50 million....
