The Google translate HTML5 web app has been around for a while now and it works great, but the Google translate team has finally decided that the iOS market is too big to pass up making an app for. As a bonus, the new iOS app has a feature the webapp didn’t, voice-to-text. As usual, the app is free and will work on most iOS devices, not just the iPhone....

Google released its Photo Sphere Camera app for iPhone users a few months back with the ability to capture 360º images right from your device and share them over social media or even Google Maps. Photo Sphere Camera can also be used without ever publishing images anywhere or sharing photo spheres with anyone, so today Google added tabs to the app’s library separating public and private photos. The updated version also focuses on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users with output resolution improvements for users with Apple’s latest shooters....
In the tech equivalent of a turkey dissing Thanksgiving dinners, Corning SVP Tony Tripeny has criticized sapphire as a material for protecting phone screens, coming up with a whole list of claimed drawbacks, reports CNET. Sapphire is far more resistant to scratches than Gorilla Glass, but Corning argue that it is more likely to be smashed. Apple is expected to switch to a sapphire coating for the iPhone 6, manufacturing the material at the plant it jointly operates with GTAT in Arizona....

When Jerome returns to Gotham he’ll be teaming up with Scarecrow and Mad Hatter—and may even become the Joker. The midseason premiere of Gotham last night caught up with the chaos from before the hiatus, but fans still felt a Jerome-sized hole. Luckily, he’ll be back in next week’s episode beginning an arc that could just bring a true version of Joker to the show. We’ve heard the Jerome and Joker connection on Gotham will be something both surprising and satisfying, but there’s no telling yet what it will entail....

Clearly, Apple would have preferred to have another huge venue open for Black Friday but we’ve been told by a GC Apple employee today that they’ve been told to continue working at other New York Area Apple Stores during Black Friday weekend. Last weekend, a group of employees was told that the opening announcement was scheduled for today and Apple was going to try to open for Black Friday....

Rob Zombie wrote and directed two Halloween movies for Dimension in the 2000s, but it turns out he absolutely hated his time working on the films. Zombie initially gained fame for his music, and while he remains a touring rock star, Zombie is arguably just as well known nowadays for his work as a filmmaker. Debuting with 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses, Zombie has gone on to write and direct seven live-action feature films, all within the horror genre....
