A new series of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 posters just came out of nowhere in Los Angeles. The major strength of the first Guardians of the Galaxy was, of course, the diverse cast of characters and their infectious chemistry. The highly anticipated Vol. 2 promises more of the same, with some fresh twists infused into the already-dynamic group. Newcomer Mantis (Pom Klementieff) joins the fray, while former adversaries like Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are also expected to join up with the heroes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will also introduce some key brand new characters, like Ego (Kurt Russell) and Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), plus a mystery role for Sylvester Stallone. But the primary focus of the sequel’s promotional campaign has been the main group of heroes and their new additions. A brand new set of character posters has emerged to promote the new, bigger group, and this time it was found in a public place.

The Marvel Report tweeted on Sunday a video of a new line of character posters for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that adorns the side of a building in the middle of Los Angeles. The line of posters features headshots of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), Yondu, Nebula, and Mantis.

Like virtually every set of posters released so far for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, this new set is heavily stylized and tinted in a wide array of colors. They very closely resemble a set of international posters that surfaced in late March. Another recent set of international posters showed off the main characters in pairs. This is ostensibly the first time, however, that Vol. 2 character posters of this kind have popped up in public.

Plenty of posters and banners for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 have surfaced online in the lead-up to its May 5 release, but the random posters in the middle of L.A. are one of the only times that such a thing has physically appeared in public for the sequel. The Guardians are everywhere with the way the sequel is being pushed right now, and it all adds up to what’s expected to be a huge opening weekend at the box office.

It’s a wonder whether these posters would change the mind of anyone who came across them in public. Fans who encounter them will only get more excited to see the sequel. But it just shows how Marvel and Disney are pulling out all the stops to make sure the sequel finds as many eyeballs as possible. And there are few characters right now that would be as eye-catching as those of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
