Grand Theft Auto 5 Online has added a new competitive racing game mode called Open Wheel Racing to its multiplayer in its latest update. With this new update also came two new Formula One-style cars, seven new race tracks, and the new Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), a rechargeable speed boost. All of which were made for this new faster and more technical F1 style racing.

GTA Online allows players to host and join customizable racing lobbies with a variety of different racing types. Now players can enter the new San Andreas Prix races that involve using new customization and equipment, making pit stops mid-race, and heavier penalties for car damage. Strap in, because this guide going to explain how to find and enter these new Open Wheel Races in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online.

Locating An Open Wheel Race in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online

There are a couple of main ways to locate an Open Wheel Race to participate in. The first way is to locate an Open Wheel Series race on the map. Open up the map and highlight the Open Wheel Series icon to quickly locate one. Once an Open Wheel Race is found, accept the job and it will search for an available race.

The second way is to accept an invitation to an Open Wheel Race from your job list. Job listings can be found on the Job List app of the player’s cellphone. If no Open Wheel Races are available, it will ask if the player would like to host one themselves. The host of the race will be able to adjust the settings of the race to their satisfaction.

The player can also choose to take a Rockstar created Open Wheel Race job from the Online jobs menu if the first few ways failed to work. This can be found by selecting Jobs, then Play Job, then Rockstar Created, and scrolling down to the Open Wheel Races.

Purchasing And Upgrading An F1 Car In Grand Theft Auto 5 Online

If a player chooses to purchase either the Ocelot R88 or the Progen PR4, they are looking at spending at least three million dollars in in-game currency at the Legendary Motorsport. These cars are relatively the same in terms of stats but offer unique looks. Both are able to be upgraded with new vehicle wings, liveries, engine mods and more, only available for Open Wheel vehicles.

These new cars will offer a fair bit of challenge for less experienced drivers, seeing as the damage made to these cars has much more of an impact on performance. Keep this in mind when deciding on whether to pick up these new ultra-performance vehicles.
