A new deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has arrived, showing Ego’s alternate take on the War on Xandar. Right now, James Gunn is hard at work crafting Guardians 3 and helping to usher Adam Warlock into the world of the MCU. Even more exciting, he and Kevin Feige are also beginning to write the cosmic corner of the Marvel universe that will unfold following the completion of Phase 3. But in the meantime, promotion for the upcoming home video release of Vol. 2 has meant a lot of new Guardians material in the past few weeks.

One of the most exciting things to emerge during the promotion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on home video is the full ‘Guardians Inferno’ music video. Made with David Hasselhoff for the end credits of the movie, the song gets brought to life in loving detail in the new video. Not only do the cast return, but Gunn appears as well. Even more exciting, the whole thing was shot using old cameras, according to Gunn. Now, we have another hilarious moment from the movie in the form of a deleted scene.

Yahoo Movies has just released a clip from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 right after Ego brings the team to his planet. When they arrive, he honors his son Peter with a statue depicting the War on Xandar that ended the first film. Unfortunately for the other Guardians, it’s not too kind to them.

Not only is Groot turned into some weird blob and Gamora reduced to a love interest clinging to Quill, but the statue fluffs Star-Lord’s ego (some pun intended) by making him the sole hero of the battle. Of course, Drax naturally gets it the worst, depicted as a pygmy-like creature perched on Quill’s shoulder.

Despite the length of the film, it’s not surprising that a lot of funny moments had to be cut to save time. Of course, even jokes that weren’t planned still made it into the film. We learned recently that the Mary Poppins line wasn’t part of the initial film, but it’s quickly became one of the most referenced parts of the movie.

Meanwhile, we’ve also seen a better look at Adam’s cocoon in the movie, further highlighting the importance he’ll have moving forward. Even better, a gag reel from the movie was released, adding a number of unintentional laughs to the film. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting home video soon, we should get even more behind-the-scenes looks at the film in the coming weeks.
