Gossip Girl is a teen drama that aired from 2007 through 2012 and is based on a novel series by the same name. The series follows a group of upper-class teenagers who live in Manhattan and are all part of the same social group. Their wealthy lifestyle has made them a target for an anonymous blogger who goes by the name of Gossip Girl and seems to see and know everything about all of them.

Many people that watched Gossip Girl had a favorite character. Whether it’s because their character was interesting or the person really loved the actor or actress that portrayed them, it’s easy to fall in love with a TV show character. Even though Gossip Girl has been over for several years, the actors and actresses that appeared in the series have gone on to appear in a lot of other movies and TV shows.

Blake Lively: A Simple Favor (2018)

Blake Lively is the actress that portrayed Serena van der Woodsen, one of the main characters in Gossip Girl. The series begins with Serena having returned to her private school from a mysterious trip away from the city.

In the show, Serena had a totally awesome sense of style. Even though Blake Lively’s character in A Simple Favor is nothing like Serena, she’s also super well-dressed. In this movie, Lively plays Emily, a businesswoman and seemingly “perfect” mom who disappears, leading her best friend to dig into her past and find out who Emily really is.

Kristen Bell: The Good Place (2016 - 2020)

Even though Kristen Bell technically wasn’t in Gossip Girl in the traditional sense, she still lent her voice to the series as the voiceover for all of Gossip Girl’s narrations. This made the big reveal about exactly who was actually behind the gossip blog an even bigger surprise!

Kirsten Bell has been in quite a few movies and TV shows since Gossip Girl ended. Among them is The Good Place, a quirky comedy that aired from 2016 through 2020. In the series, Bell plays Eleanor, a woman who recently died and found herself in the afterlife in a place known as “The Good Place.” Unfortunately, Eleanor realizes pretty quickly she was not meant to end up there and that someone made a major mistake.

Leighton Meester: Single Parents (2018 - )

Leighton Meester is an actress and singer who played the role of Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. Blair is one of the main characters in the series and is regarded as their social group’s “queen bee.” She has a complicated friendship with Serena in the series and was definitely the favorite of many fans of the show.

Since appearing in Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester has gone on to be in a variety of movies and TV shows as well as releasing some music. One of the shows she’s become best known for in recent years is Single Parents, a comedic series in which Meester plays the role of Angie, one of the single parents that all become friends because of their children attending the same school.

Chace Crawford: The Boys (2019 - )

Chace Crawford is an actor who Gossip Girl fans will know as Nate Archibald, one of the main characters in the TV series. The series begins with Nate dating Blair Waldorf, something that becomes complicated by the return of Serena van der Woodsen to the Upper East Side.

Jessica Szohr: The Orville (2017 - )

Jessica Szohr is an actress that appeared in the earlier seasons of the series and played the role of Vanessa Abrams. In the series, Vanessa is a student who is attending Constance Billard School for Girls and is best friends with Dan Humphrey, one of the only people in the area that she really gets along with.

Since her departure from Gossip Girl, Szohr has appeared in a lot of different movies and TV shows. Among them is The Orville, a series that began airing in 2017 and is a science fiction comedy-drama that was created by and stars Seth McFarlane. The series is heavily inspired by other sci-fi shows like Star Trek. 

Kelly Rutherford: Dynasty (2017 - )

Kelly Rutherford is the actress that played the role of Lily van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl. She’s the mother of Serena and adoptive mother of Chuck Bass due to the fact that she was once married to his father, Bart Bass. A spin-off series that followed Lily during her teen years was in the works at one point but was eventually canceled.

Following the end of Gossip Girl, Rutherford went on to appear in another high-drama series. In the modern reboot of the 1980s soap opera Dynasty, Rutherford plays the role of Melissa Daniels. Dynasty is a dramatic series that, like Gossip Girl, follows the lives of the super-wealthy and exposes all their intense drama.

Penn Badgley: You (2018 - )

On Gossip Girl, Penn Badgely played the role of Dan Humphrey. Dan is one of the central characters in the series and is Serena’s on-and-off boyfriend throughout the series until they finally get married at the end of the show. This character was also revealed to the face behind the anonymous Gossip Girl.

In 2018, Badgely started playing the role of Joe in You, a TV adaptation of a novel series by the same name. Joe is a bookstore employee who meets a customer one day and falls head over heels for her. The series follows Joe and is narrated by Badgely to give us a look into his inner thoughts as he stops at nothing to win over his love interest.

Katie Cassidy: Arrow (2012 - 2020)

In Gossip Girl, Katie Cassidy played the role of Juliet Sharp, the main antagonist of the fourth season of the series. Juliet is a Columbia University who believes that Serena got her brother sent to prison and is set on getting revenge against her because of this.

Since leaving Gossip Girl, Cassidy gained notoriety for playing the role of Black Canary, also known as Dinah Lauren Lance, in Arrow. When the series begins, she’s working for the CNRI and is the ex-girlfriend of Oliver Queen. In the fourth season of the series, she played Black Siren, an alternate universe antagonist version of her original character.

Connor Paolo: Friend Request (2016)

Connor Paolo is the actor that portrayed the role of Eric van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl. Eric is the brother of Serena van der Woodsen and appears in the first few seasons of the series before he, along with a few other characters, made their leave from the show.

In 2016, Paolo appeared alongside Alycia Debnam-Carey in the horror film Friend Request. This movie follows a college student who accepts a friend request on her social media account from a social outcast at her school. After the other student takes her own life, a series of strange things begin to happen.

Dreama Walker: The Good Wife (2009 - 2016)

Dreama Walker is the actress that portrayed Hazel Williams in the first two seasons of Gossip Girl. She was one of Blair Waldorf’s friends that would follow her everywhere and do anything that Blair told her to. Gossip Girl fans likely remember her because Jenny stole a dress from Hazel’s mother’s closet in the first season.

This actress left Gossip Girl in 2009 after only being in the first couple of seasons. That same year, she began playing the role of Becca on The Good Wife, an intensely dramatic legal series.
